Blown away that you havent really heard Freedom til now but then again I've never given Psychedelic Pill the time it seems to deserve :) so I'll fix that. Freedom and Ragged Glory were on constant rotation in my dorm back in the early 90's when Neil seemed to have (another) renaissance but I am a bit longer in the tooth than you haha.

It’s the pants and the Reagan! Love RG tho. And I love the Eldorado EP.

I’ll admit to being a sporadic listener to the show archives, but they really did spruce up some weekend mornings for me; I always seem to want to listen to it in that same window that you’re doing it, but on a different week or day! I’ll miss it, but I totally get where you’re coming from.

YES to psychedelic pill – a whole bunch of classics on that one. Last I knew, there was a great pro-shot video of the tour that year on YouTube. maybe the last tour with Poncho? I caught that tour, and it inspired me to write an essay that made the case that they also deserve Bill Graham’s classic descriptor quote, “They’re not the best at what they do, they’re the only ones who do what they do.”

Looking forward to checking out this new Bruce-ish fellow, thanks! I can’t wait till he starts smoking a bit more pot and entering into his mystic reverie and cathartic release stage! (the string of albums from dragons jaws to stealing fire was always my favorite Bruce, though there are gems on every single album)…. if you slept on his last one, give it a listen; it feels like a spiritual farewell, wrapped in beautiful, subtle instrumentation. Yes, some is explicitly Christian, but I’ve always been able to filter that into my own sense of the grace and beauty of life. Anyway, yes, early Bruce was was beautiful and I look forward to checking this new guy out! Maybe he’ll venture out as far as Maine…

Really miss the show but I’ll figure out a way to look into the archives.

Check out the version on Weld of that tune, a little heavier, both are great

I too really miss the show. I love all the links to individual tracks but miss the ability of just listening to great music uninterrupted for an hour! Although I’m not an audiophile like the rest of you all, I will continue to support the Substack because it exposes me to all sorts of great music. Keep it up and, just as important, enjoy time with your kids and partner. You can’t make up for lost time in that area.
